Posh houses for Goodmayes ducks!
Wilson's wifeJuliet with some volunteers and children
Goodmayes ducks were given new brightly painted homes during a special community day 19th September 2015. The homes were pre-cut by Redbridge Parks Team who also provided instruction and materials so to complete the construction. The boxes will later be installed along the banks of the park pond for longevity to provide an unusual but most welcome biodiversity legacy.
12 teenage volunteers from the National Citizenship Scheme, supervised by our chairman Wilson Chowdhry helped coordinate free sports for the duration of the 6 hour event, games included; football, cricket and rounders.
Habiba Ahmed of Redbridge Amey council contractors for recycling, provided a swap shop (old goods exchange point), information stall and children's activity workshops including; potting, badge making using recyclables and mask making).
The day was a great success and it is hoped that the event will be repeated next year.
